Kittens Galore!  Lets get them adopted!

So much excitement!

First off, guess what.  So MARBLES is a boy.  And a neutered boy at that.  The vet he was brought to on Monday actually got that one wrong, which I am still scratching my head about.  GRASP, the rescue group that took him in, took him to the vet for one final look see yesterday, and sure enough, a boy.  ????????????????????????

So, first off, thanks for the comment yesterday, but I was way ahead of you on that one.  I am disappointed in myself that I did not do sooner, as I have neglected in sending out a few thank you notes also, I have so many excuses, but it was my intention to write a note thanking him for his kindness in allowing me to feed and shelter the cats behind his house.  But after my phone conversation with this POS yesterday, it wouldn't have mattered.  He claimed he didn't know it was back there, which I believe, because it was pretty filthy back there for many years after two sets of tenants came and went.  He doesn't want me feeding cats on his property and said it was illegal to begin with.  JERK.  So, I wrote a note and placed on his neighbor's porch this morning.  The man that lives next door I briefly spoke to one morning about a month ago and he said something about me being kind after I told him what I was doing there at 4:15 in the dark on the side of his house.   I pray he calls me today and says 'sure! you can feed and shelter behind MY house!'.  Wishful thinking, I know.  In the meantime, I've spotted a boarded up house just down a ways across the street.  Those poor kittens that have lost their home ....  really, people can be bastards.  So cruel to the animals to uproot them like that.

UPDATE:  The man who lives next door who's porch I left a note on - he texted back that YES, I CAN!!  He said it would help with the mice, and he said 'thank you and God bless you!' - WOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!  SO HAPPY!  No sleep last night thinking about this situation!  :P)

Back on Niagara, as I was placing food down for them, the big guy came slowly walking up to me.    I asked him if he was going to open the door slightly so the cats could come out to feed under the tree where I was placing the food, he said no, you have to call management.  I said I called the NET office and am waiting to hear back from them, they would be the liaison between me and management.  The guy said he was told to call the police, he said he wouldn't do that, but just don't place the food under the fence.  I do know I cannot do this anymore.  It is trespassing, I think.  As I placed the food down, we both watched as the cats ran down the street to the large car gate, and came out from there.  Not all of them, but a few did.  We both agreed that if this was the case, and they could get out, then we wouldn't have a problem anymore.

In the meantime, I am going to rebuild that shelter across the street so that it esthetically pleasing, and will house more cats.  I would love nothing better than to have those cats live there, than in the crack between two buildings in the brutal weather we have.  I just wish they were smart enough to cross that street.

There are two other shelters in jeopardy - it just never ends.  But as SS mentioned, things will work out, they eventually do, but its so upsetting to the cats.  There are so many beautiful sweet cats out there that need rescue.  Please consider adoption and foster.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day.

"Compassion hurts. When you feel connected to everything, you also feel responsible for everything. And you cannot turn away. Your destiny is bound with the destinies of others. You must either learn to carry the Universe or be crushed by it. You must grow strong enough to love the world, yet empty enough to sit down at the same table with its worst horrors.”

  1. Take a look at the house right behind 253 Parsells. It's in Pre-Foreclosure... 330 Grand Ave.
If it's empty, you may be able to move everything to the other side of the fence. -SS

  2. Great quote Janine, and great job keeping up the positive attitude. You ARE an inspiration to all. Im so glad you saw the cats coming out the other gate. If some do, they will all eventually follow. Keep up the good work. Wish I could help more.

  5. That's fantastic that the neighbor was so willing to have the cats in his yard! There's an answered prayer. :)

How funny that Marbles is a boy! I always think of tuxedo kitties as boys anyways, like mine was.

Anymore takers on the kittens? They are so adorable I could just smooch them. How many are actually at your house now?
