One Cat Two Cat Three Cat Four...

I love the names Noodles and Nellie.  I thought of them myself.  Its unfortunate they don't belong to cats that are inside warm and loving homes.  Instead, they are the kitties that I had spayed yesterday on Niagara and had to go back to the street this morning.

Both Female.  Both Pregnant.

As sad as it is to think that cute and cuddly little babies won't be born, remember that for every kitten that is adopted out there, five are euthanized in shelters due to overcapacity.  I have no clue if five is the number, I am sure it is higher across the country, but it is a staggering number when you think about adopting a kitten, and knowing that in seven or eight months, its going to be a full-sized cat.  So for those of you that just want cute and cuddly, go visit them in the shelters.   See the reality, and then come out and spread the good word:  Spay and Neuter.

Nothing really new to report today.  It was a quiet morning.  I hated to let these girls out of their traps in this dark and dingy neighborhood, but they have food available to them after they return from their sprint out of the traps when I opened them.  There are some males around there somewhere that are sniffing out their potential mates, so I must keep trapping there until I get them all - I estimate there are 8-10 cats total here.   There was no sign of the suspected pregnant kitty on Parsells, but I laid down food regardless.  The black kitty that was squashed on the street Sunday morning was not the one I've been feeding with the two reds, Petey and Pauley.  Thank God. That was a sad, and hard thing to see.

Speaking of kittens, thanks to the newspaper article, if you recall, this woman on Garson reached out to me to tell me she had kittens in her old dog house on her deck.  A friend came over to get them to foster them through her rescue group, Rescued Treasures, along with trapping the mom and two other cats, and here are some pictures - four kittens all together!
