I was corrected on the temperature yesterday morning. It was pointed out that the gauge in my car may not go past zero. We nearly set a record with -9 degrees yesterday morning. the record being -10 back in 1954 or somewhere around there, WAY before my time. :) It was brutal, for sure.
This morning, it was a balmy 10 degrees.
The Rooster: I heard the rooster again this morning. I called 911 AGAIN to report it. I had never heard from Animal Control last week when I had requested a call back. I know they have their hands full, but... this morning, I did hear back from them. They were in front of the house, and were going to go to the house to inquire about the poor animal. After I explained how I know about the rooster, having to tell them that I feed and shelter in the empty lot next door, it was pointed out to me that there could be repercussions for me reporting this - that he would figure it was me. I told him that there were neighbors, and behind that was 8th Street, and it could be one of them. After I got on to this man's friendlier side, saying maybe he shouldn't check it out because he put the fear of God in me - Cats vs. Rooster - he said he woulod try to approach this another way. He explained that he has gone to this place before because of the dogs living in unsafe conditions outdoors, and he would tell them he was checking on the dogs, and then ask if he 'still had fowl' in the back - explaining that it was illegal in the city of Rochester to have. Which I did not know. He said he most likely wouldn't be able to call me back, so I had to assume that he would do the right thing for the poor rooster. Prayers for the rooster.
UPDATE: He called me back. The rooster is a baby - which is why it sounded like it was dying... the man has been told to remove the fowl because it is illegal to hvae in the city of Rochester. The man did not ask a lot of questions, and was very polite to the officer. I thanked him and told him I would not worry about it anymore. Thats all I can do.

Update on Tigger!
From his new mom: "So far so good with Tigger he has decided to camp out in Tess’s bedroom and make himself comfy. First he was laying in her closet under her dresses that hang but then I put him on the bed and he figured out. That was way more comfy.
He is doing great I have the door open so he sees the other cats in the hallway, some come in and walk around then leave. He does not growl or hiss he just watches them. He is still shy but I can see he is getting better each day and less stressed. He lays closer to the entrance to the room on the rug or his cat bed I put there and looks out at the others.
When I come in the room he runs right to me and loves his belly rubbed or to be held. He purrs like a chainsaw. I told him I am now the lady that will feed him every day as Janine gave me that duty so she can be off feeding others. He no longer has to chase after a car to eat his bowl will always have food in it. Right now he gets room service as I bring the food up to him, as you can imagine the others are a tad jealous J
I figure it can’t hurt to spoil the little guy for a while he deserves it! I am sure in a few days’ time he will wander the rest of the house. And be playing with the rest in no time. Webster and Maverick (my Siamese) are trying to be his buddies already!
Enjoy the pics J I am so thankfully he is inside in a warm place away from those cold streets. Hope all the rest can get homes as well."
Great news.
Have a GREAT DAY!

fabulous stories today Janine, great work from the animal officers, of course the rooster situation is very suspicious, isnt Tigger lucky to have a replacement carer that is as devoted to him as you are / he sounds very pampered ! still hoping and working for homes to get the other kittys into asap.
