I have yet to hear from Cheddar's new family, I will try to contact them today. Little Paddy/Pepper goes to the vet for a recheck of his teeth after his mom Lillian has been faithfully giving him meds for the past two weeks. Fingers crossed his sore mouth is better, but his gums looked painfully red when I went to visit him on Monday. He was diagnosed with Stomatitis, and was told that all his teeth would have to be extracted. If that turns out to be the case, Paddy may have to come back to me, or find a new home, because it may be hard for Lillian to care for him, not knowing what to expect. So we take it one step at a time.
All the kitties were out and about his morning and I got a few pictures. There is one cat on Fourth and Pennsylvania that I believe is one of Vanessa's babies - one that I missed when I rescued her and her other two babies, Pumpkin and Magic last summer. Here is his picture that he allowed me to take this morning - You tell me what you think! - First, a picture of Pumpkin -

After having even ALL teeth removed they still eat dry food with no problem. And since Lillian has managed fine with giving Paddy antibiotics for two weeks already, I don't see any reason that having his teeth removed should cause her to not be able to keep him!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that DOES look just like Pumpkin (still named Pumpkin, the black one is Charley!) How sad for him. I think he should be your next rescue.
ReplyDeleteI hope Lillian will try some things before losing hope and giving up. Charley (Magic) had horrible death breath and swollen red gums when we got him. First, Lillian needs to get Pepper on a high protein food if he's not already. Just switching Charley from Science Diet to Fancy Feast Classic canned food made a difference with his breath. The other big thing was using the antiseptic gel that I told you about. It's pretty easy to apply especially if you wrap kitty in a towel first. I've also read that some people had their kitty's stomatitis go completely away after putting them on a raw diet. I would definitely do that if I could. I'll be praying for little Pepper!
Oooh yes, that does look like it could be the sibling of pumpkin and magic...if only he could have the life that they now have, better hurry himself up and get in your car as many others have done, you are the bright spot in their day Janine, can never tell you thank you enough for what you do every single day, no help on the horizon yet...........? xxxx
