DECEMBER 2: Feed a Cat for Christmas! Mary Ellen F!!

Mary Ellen F.!  Thank you so much for your donation to help me feed these kitty cats every morning!  I had the pleasure of meeting Mary Ellen through the kitty world, and I am so blessed to have met her.  Mary Ellen has supported me through the years and I am so thankful to have the encouragement she has given me.  It takes strength to keep doing this, and Mary Ellen has pushed me to keep going!  Thank you so much Mary Ellen, your donation will help me to feed these kitties for close to a week!

Monday morning:  I need to catch up where I left off last week!  So much has happened!  I am still out there every single morning at 4 am. and with the 2-4 inches of snow we received yesterday and last night, I am rethinking my time to leave even earlier, like 3:30 am.  I didn't get home until 5:45 am. today.  UGGGH.  Battening down more hatches is what I was doing.  AND falling on my behind.  Yes, I pulled up to Central and Second and went to feed the kitties, and check out the shelter that Joel was kind enough to build.  As I walked up to it, I saw this large dark thing come out of it.  It was the size of a large cat, but no, it was a dog!  The little yapper that lives next door!  He must have spent the night in the cat shelter!  I shooed him away, as he tried to go after the cats, but he retreated upon hearing my stern voice quietly shouting NO!  I continued to pour the food for the 6-7 cats that live here, and then proceeded to walk across the street to the mailbox to place food under that for the lone cat that eats from there.  I saw the doggy meandering back toward the shelters, picked up my pace and WHOOSH!  Slow motion slip.  I thought I RIPPED my hamstring, could almost hear it, and boy did that hurt, but I got up, scraped my dignity off the pavement, hobbled back to the Jeep, and drove home.  As I walked into the house, I realized I had NOT ripped anything, and was going to be OK.  Its WAY too early in the season for this!

OF course, this morning was not without some drama.  Mary Leigh Frank has some mental issues, we all know that.   She continues to take my shelters and throw them in the trash cans, any that she can find.  She did it again over night.  The tiny shelter I have stuffed across the street behind a garage she found and placed in the trash can at the house opposite, where I have been feeding for years, and where she consistently throws my plates and food out, every single day.  I won't publish much more than this about her in writing, but for anyone that wants to know more, I will tell you privately.  But she must be stopped.  I had Kings do a stake out when I returned home, and by the time he got there, he saw her walking down Webster Avenue, toward her street, and he saw that she had chucked the food and the board covering the food.  She had already done her thing.  We are expecting a ton of snow in the next three days, and I just don' t know how to protect the cat food from being buried without these boards.  I wish I had more help. Someone to catch and confront her.

Muffin in a manger...
Muffin was met by a man on Sunday who is going to surprise his wife for Christmas.  His wife saw Muffin on the rescue Facebook page, and fell in love.  She mentioned to her husband who responded that they had enough pets - two dogs and two cats already.  What a sweet man, and what a surprise that will be!  I am so happy!  I will deliver Muffin, maybe with a red bow, to his new family on Christmas weekend.  Happy Dance!

BUTTERBALL - Who can resist this gorgeous girl???
Butterball was supposed to be delivered to her new home on Saturday, but the deal fell through.  She adopted another cat.  Harvey and Huey received quite a few bites, but Kristin is in charge of them, and is looking for just the perfect fit.  If anyone knows the perfect fit, please let us know!

Ziggy and Willow will be going to their new home this Saturday, their new family is SO excited.  Rusty has been adopted as well!  Now we just need to find a home for Maize and Toebe.  In my opinion, the cutest!  They've all healed from the calicivirus they had, and are playful, fat, fuzzy little buggers.

Have a great day!
