December 10th! Congrats to me!

Congratulations ____________Julie Lafferty demanded her money back - so this day, I fed the cats!  Today, you have fed over 70 cats out there in the Beechwood Section of Rochester!  All the way from Parsells Avenue, to Second and Central Park!  There were many homeless and hungry kitties in between those two locations.  Julie made this gift to the Feed a Cat for Christmas campaign in memory of her sweet Lucy girl.  Rest in peace sweet Lucy.  Thank you Julie for your kindness.

It was very quiet out this morning.  I left the house at 4:00 am., as I do nearly every day (I start off at 4:30 on Sundays) and when all finished and done, glancing at the clock, saw that it was 5:15.  I love days like that, finished in nearly an hour.  Thats because its so mild out, no rain, no snow, no wind.  All the kitties are waiting for me, for their wet food treat, which they love.  Saw just one raccoon this morning, and a pregnant RAT!  At least it appeared pregnant.  Either that or VERY fat.  ~  Gross.

Francie Pants
Couple of updates!  Miss Francie Pants, the kitty I rescued from Ferndale and Webster (and from Crazy Maryleigh as far as I am concerned), in mid-August who was extremely sick with upper respiratory (she is a very expensive kitty - she wound up costing nearly $500 for all her trips to the vets to help her overcome it, has FINALLY been adopted.  My friend Pattie was fostering her, and someone saw her pic on Facebook and fell in love!  Thats the power of Facebook!  Share share share!  I am waiting for updates from her new momma.

Violet is scheduled for a spay next week.  Reports from my sister (who is fostering her and mom Nora) last evening was that she IS EATING SOLID food.  Fancy Feast meat in gravy.  Hurray!  Fingers crossed this lasts!  WOO HOO!  Speaking of, she has cost me (and some of you!) well over $500 trying to figure out her problem.  She is the last kitten of Nora's babies yet to be adopted.  Spread the word. She is beautiful, and sweet, and playful, and very small for her age, but healthy!  And ready for a home!

"Stan", the brother of Stevie from Short Street, who I trapped, had neutered, and was ready to return to the street before someone offered to take him, was picked up by his new mom Sandy last evening.  Woo hoo.  Another successful rescue.  His brother Stevie is waiting each morning for me, and asking 'what did you do with my brother? - and when will you rescue me?" - breaks my heart.

Now we need  to get Nora, Hermie, Buddy, Cammy and Buttons adopted!  Spread the word!

Have a GREAT day!

To My Foster Mom
There I sat, alone and afraid
You bundled me up with blankets and love.
And, when I needed it most, you gave me a hug.
I learned that the world was not all that scary and cold.
That sometimes there is someone to have and to hold.
You taught me what love is, you helped me to mend.
You loved me and healed me and became my first friend.
And just when I thought you'd done all you do,
There came along not one new lesson, but two.
First you said, "Sweetheart, you're ready to go.
I've done all I can, and you've learned all I know."
Then you bundled me up with a blanket and a kiss.
Along came a new family, they even have other kids!
They took me to their home, forever to stay.
At first I thought you sent me away.
Then that second lesson became perfectly clear.
No matter how far, you will always be near.
As so, Foster Mom, you know I've moved on.
I have a new home, with toys and blankets to lay on.
But I'll never forget what I learned that first day.
You never really give your fosters away.
You gave me these thoughts to remember you by.
We may never meet again, and now I know why.
You'll remember I lived with you for a time.
I may not be yours, but you'll always be mine.

  1. Hooray for Miss Francie Pants! Wow, she waited a long time to find her forever home. Happy life, little girl!

And amazing news about Violet! That's a miracle she's eating solids. Really. Thank you, Lord!

  2. I love these poems you put at the end of your blog -- I sometimes save them and pass them on to my fellow WCHS volunteer friends.

  3. And I donated the money to another animal in rescue that was having surgery to save his life! A real rescuer who believes all lives matter! You are a hateful bitch!
