Really?

Isaiah 40:11
Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, In His arm He will gather the lambs And carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes.

This is supposedly church property.  A church.  What God are you praying to people??? It can't be my God, who is a kind and compassionate God.  This just kills me.  How cruel can you be?

I in turn left a note stating:  "I am trapping here.  I am trying to reduce the overpopulation of cats on this property.  Please leave my stuff alone."

Below picture is of what is left of the shelters that housed eight cats until this new property owner of Rochester Clutch and Brake on Niagara Street took over.  Apparently he is renovating and flipping the property.  Every week I find the blue bin thrown to the street, along with whatever food is left when he arrives.  You should see the lot, full of trash and glass, tall grass...  but THIS bothers him.

This beautiful blue point Siamese (?) I've been feeding for over a year here on Parsells.  I TNR'd him close to a year ago, I believe.  He's becoming more and more friendly, sidling up to my knees when I am standing there pouring the food for him, and his five or so other companions waiting for their breakfast.  This is where little Nugget was just rescued from.  And of course little Mitzy and Moxy, and DOZENS, literally, of others throughout the years.

Here is our little TINKER.  The Stinker.  No, he really just smells like a baby...  sweet and soft.  I am still worried about him, but after another vet appointment yesterday, and another $70 (total $400 in two days in vet bills), he was prescribed to continue on the Tobramycin but added another drug, I keep forgetting the name - it has an X in it - I give him the Tobra every 6 hours, and 10 minutes after that, apply the X medicine.  I have to sit and hold a warm cloth to his eyes and try to get them to open.  He is sneezing something awful.

That's it for the week.  Its been a rough summer.  But I will soldier on.

Have a great day!

Proverbs 12:10
A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal, But even the compassion of the wicked is cruel.

  1. Idoxuridine? That is a pricy med is your antiviral and the tobramyacin is your antibacterial drops. My fosters have been on both. It's a slow process Janine but stay the course. Tinker's eyes will start to turn around soon.

  2. Your photos show you feeding cats, not trapping them. If you think you're trapping them, either you don't know what you're doing (apparently) or your doing it wrong (likely). Maybe you should buy a book on trapping so you can do it properly. You might also want to contact your local State Game and Fish Department to find out just how destructive feral cats are to the indigenous species. They absolutely decimate songbird populations to the tune of hundreds of million birds nationwide.

    1. T.D. Ball :
I must strenuously disagree with your comment.
Although these photos show Janine feeding cats, the actual trapping is only done one day a week. Thats all she can afford to do. She uses Hav-a-hart drop door traps with fresh mackerel as bait. She has successfully trapped HUNDREDS of cats, from all around this area of Rochester. For each cat trapped, they are given a full exam by a certified vet, and spayed or neutered if they have not already been altered. Some of the cats are found homes with loving humans, others are returned to the locations they were trapped. Of the ones returned, NONE are able to further reproduce.
I have personally accompanied her while doing her rounds. I can assure she knows EXACTLY what she is doing.

  3. My God - a church puts out signs like this!! I will join in if anyone wants to protest at this 'church'. And T.D. Ball - read previous blog entries of Janine's. You're obviously not informed of her weekly routine for you to make the comments you did. Nancy C.

    1. Dear t d ball, i reread your comment to jani e's humanitarian work a few times before I responded to u. I consider myself a fair person . U r either an misinformed person ( apparently ) or just mean spirited ( likely) please read Joel's text abt Janine's success to reduce the cat population. She is only one person n has dedicated her life & finances to this cause . May I suggest if u want to offer assistance - u get your sorry butt n go out to the inner city, getting up at 2:00 every morning irregardless of the weather conditions , feed over 100 cats, pay to flood, vet bills , care n nurse back to health injured cats n deal with some not so nice street people. And did I mention she works a full time job. I'm looking forward to heAring your advice after u have actually joined her during a trapping morning.

  4. Mr Ballzie
You are totally misinformed and do not know what you are talking about. And those songbirds that you are so worried about usually don't hang around on Parsells Ave but in the trees at our awesome parks. She is an amazing woman with a heart of gold. Not only does she rescue and feed these awesome kitties but she rescues those that are fortunate enough to adopt one as a loyal pet and those of us who choose to make a difference in this world by giving back.

    1. Could that be because the feral cat population killed them all? Stop and think about it before the name calling. Mr Ball was not rude in stating his opinion.

  5. Trapping and removing feral cats and finding them is a noble cause and should be encouraged. Trapping and returning is cruel to the cat and harmful to the indigenous animal population and should be illegal. Mt Ball is right, the damage done by irresponsible owners letting cats turn feral is emence. Feeding such cats may seem kind but in the long run cruel.

The new owner of the land is not the bad guy here. He did not turn cats out to fend for themselves. He is well within his rights to prohibit trespass. In fact he is being tolerant in not prosecuting anyone trespassing and feeding cats on his property. Who of you posting against this land owner would allow a stranger to trespass on their property or in their homes?
