V-DAY (& D-DAY)

Surprise Surprise.  Look what showed up at the office yesterday.  Hopefully you can read the card. Click on the picture to zoom in!  Can you believe those kitties?  They did it again!  The florist must love taking their order each year over the phone.  They must speak meow or something.  And here I thought these kitties were poor.  They may or may not be, but they sure are sweet.  :) Thank you Kitties.  I love you all.  :) (I still haven't figured out who the culprit is!)  :)

As you all know, we began a campaign for Valentine's Day this month.  My friend Kristin is an art teacher at Gates Chili Middle School and she had her students make up Valentine cards.  We raised enough money for 60 cards, and the majority will be donated to the residents at St. Ann's Nursing Home today.

The following are pictures of a few of the cards made (I wish I could have scanned them in color!), and also of the students who made them.  Aren't they adorable!  The cards, and the students!  :)

Outside of Card - this girl is so in love with Justin Bieber, she signs her last name as Bieber!  :)

Inside of Card
This is just a sampling of the beautiful and artistic and thoughtful and sweet cards made.  Mrs. Miller should be very proud of her students.  I am sure that the lucky recipients of these cards will have a smile from ear to ear when they receive them.  Thank you Gates Chili Middle School!  :) and Thank You Kristin and Carrie for making this come to fruition!  :)

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!!!

Lastly, today I am on the radio, trying to speak for the cats.  I am far too goofy and childish to be the spokesperson for the overwhelming problems our city/world has when it comes to the overpopulation of animals and their plight, so I have little faith that I will say the right things, but I will wing it as best as I can.  Wish me luck!

Have a GREAT day!

A Valentine

For her this rhyme is penned, whose luminous eyes,
Brightly expressive as the twins of Leda,
Shall find her own sweet name, that nestling lies
Upon the page, enwrapped from every reader.
Search narrowly the lines!- they hold a treasure
Divine- a talisman- an amulet
That must be worn at heart. Search well the measure-
The words- the syllables! Do not forget
The trivialest point, or you may lose your labor
And yet there is in this no Gordian knot
Which one might not undo without a sabre,
If one could merely comprehend the plot.
Enwritten upon the leaf where now are peering
Eyes scintillating soul, there lie perdus
Three eloquent words oft uttered in the hearing
Of poets, by poets- as the name is a poet's, too,
Its letters, although naturally lying
Like the knight Pinto- Mendez Ferdinando-
Still form a synonym for Truth- Cease trying!
You will not read the riddle, though you do the best you can do.

  1. Janine Wagner, give yourself more credit. You are the perfect spokesperson for the plight of homeless cats. What time and what station will you be on?
