Whats with the snow plow guys? How come they think they have the right of way? Don't we, the drivers, have the right of way? I am not talking about the city, town or county trucks, I am talking about the contractor guys, with their little trucks and big plows in front. I was pretty mad at snow plow guys this morning, as I noticed my front lawn with a mound of snow getting larger and larger, after being pushed from my neighbor's driveway onto my lawn and sidewalk - all winter long. Of course the jerk comes at 3 am. so its not like I can run out there on time for the three minutes he is there. And then on my way to work this morning on East Ridge Road, some guy plowing a business is taking TWO lanes heading east. I slowed, sat there, and he didn't move. I then slammed on my horn and went around him, while he flipped me off, and of course I flipped him off and call him a choice name. Whats with that? Grrrrrrr.......
I guess my mood started this morning when I went out in the -3 degrees to get into the car and then spilled the dry food all over the floor of the drivers seat. And then it just escalated as I had to re shovel all 16 locations where I feed cats. We had a good six inches, at least, from Saturday to Sunday morning, and with the wind yesterday, everything I shoveled Sunday morning I had to re shovel again this morning. I am tired. I am tired of falling in snowdrifts, I am tired of the extra walking trying to find a shoveled out footpath to walk to my shelter because I can now not get up over the snow plow mountains that are being created from the daily plowing. I am tired of walking from one point to another, through snow that is already up to my knees, and then stepping into deeper pockets of snow because its not as packed down as others.. I am tired of changing my gloves halfway through my route because I can't feel my fingers anymore because of the $1 gloves I wear because of the fact that the halfway decent gloves I buy get lost - and not necessarily by me - in the beginning of winter. Its tiring. But I trudge through each stop, knowing I have to get through it, and that these cats are waiting. And they are waiting. At some, you can only see fresh footprints in the new snow, at others, their little heads are inside, waiting, at some, they hear you and bolt out of their shelters, jumping through two feet of snow to get away from you out of fright. And then I get to work and try to forget the suffering that is happening out there, to all creatures, wild and tame.
Please don't forget to feed your birds, and dig a path and fill it with apples, scraps, anything you would compost, put on that path. The deer might even find it. I make a fruit salad, and a green salad to bring to work every day and I put the scraps out for the animals. Especially at this time of year. I am glad my sister bought me a heater for my birdbath years ago. Its a lifesaver for the birds, and they love to bathe in it. Its fun to look out the window and see them play.

Sawyer |
I delivered Sawyer to his new home on Saturday, and what a great home he has! I was thrilled to meet Lynne, and so thankful that she opened up her heart and home for him. He seems to be getting along there nicely! One thing though, she did change his name - Elvis. So now we have two Elvis, but one still needs a home. Please don't forget Elvis #1 who still is waiting for a home.

Fluffypants |
This morning, at my second spot on Parsells, out of the shelter came a beautiful little girl with beautiful color markings - she was uneartipped, dainty, and shaking. I picked her up and she trembled in my arms. I hurriedly placed the food for her, and she went back in to gobble it down. The whole while I kept thinking I should grab her, but the spot is a bit of a walk #1, and #2, it would be hard for me to walk with her and the jug of water, the dry food and the wet food containers, all the way back to the car. #3 I didn't know if it would be fair to get another while I still have Elvis and Fluffypants still in need of homes, its not fair to my friend who has been taking the recent ones in to foster, and she hadn't mentioned for me to grab another since Fluffypants. As I walked away from her, I got in the car, drove off and vowed to come back after my route and get her. I did, but she wasn't there. I hate myself for that. But I will try again tomorrow. I will have a plan.
That's it in a nutshell. I know my problems are minor compared to others - there are some people who are suffering much greater than me, so I apologize for my whining, but sometimes, you just have to.

Butterscotch |
Here is a picture of Butterscotch. He is the nine month old kitten I have had since the fall. He was pretty feral when I got him. I kept him in my bathroom for months and let him get to know and trust me. I finally let him have the run of the house, but I never see him except for mornings, when he is sitting at the top of the stairs, peering down. I dont' see him any other time. I hope he comes around eventually, I miss squeezing and kissing him.
Have a great day everyone!

Everyone deserves a Bitch day - go girl. I couldn't stop thinking about you and the kitties this morning. I was almost too afraid to read your blog for fear of what I might see. Gloves are headed your way. -carol
ReplyDeleteI ran across a private plow guy like that today too on East Ridge Rd on the way into work. He just sat in the lane I was- facing me head on and there was a car alongside me, so I HAD TO STOP and wait and go around him. I gave him the horn (mild road rage I admit), he didn't care. Grrrr..... I also slid up one of the roundabouts near SeaBreeze on 590, should have took Culver up from the Lake. It was just a sheet of ice and I have good tires. Kudos to you for going out in this weather lady! Stay warm and have a good rest of your day.The kitties at least have a full belly.
ReplyDeleteDont start me on private snow plough guys,,,, it should be mandatory that they are licensed, and surely the removed snow that he is pushing over to your sid,e has been noticed by the origional "owner" of the snow......my husband has had words with private snow plough guys, himself about this very thing. Ooohh hope you can get that little girl tomorrow Janine, doesnt sound good for her.......please let us know.
