The Good Old Days...

Yes, Feral Clinic.  :)  That is where "Lacey" is going today.  She will also be eartipped.   No success at finding her potential 'owners' who advertised on Craigslist about their missing cat from just a neighborhood over.  Shame.

Shameless.  I just wanted to throw in a different picture here today - and was going through my pictures, and found this.  :)  The good old days.  Yup, its me.  :)

Next week, I will be bringing in all five kittens to County Line, at just under $100 a pop.  That is quite an expense.  $500 will buy the cats on my daily route nearly five weeks of food.  It sucks.

I pulled up to my Stout and Grand spot this morning, where the garage had been boarded up last winter, where it was pried open by friends, enough to allow the cats to go in there where some plastic tote shelters were left, and where I still feed a black kitty, neck wound kitty, and a couple of red kitties, and lately a George look-a-like, and someone – not sure if it’s the owner who apparently lives in California, or a landlord he’s hired, had put the two totes out to the curb, along with all the insides of the house that the past tenants had left over a year ago.  I remember those tenants well.  They were filthy, trashy people.  They bred pit bulls there.  I remember I called my cop friend once to check on a dog they had left outside in the rain with no shelter, water or food.  It was in a tiny chain link pen.  It was a female and you could tell she had been bred and bred and bred.  Sickening.  They moved and must have left all their belongings.  What gives with that? Why do all these inner city people leave a house with all their belongings behind?  I see it somewhere, every trash day.  These two shelters had obviously been used.  They probably kept these cats from freezing to death last winter.  Actually I am sure of it.  The person did leave the two plates underneath this porch I use, but took the totes out.  He took all the bowls surrounding the porch and trashed those with them.  I rummaged through and got the totes and set them back there.  Pray he doesn’t show up there again.  They are great insulated plastic totes.  AND the only homes these cats have.  They must have been so confused yesterday and overnight.

This is what I have to deal with.

I love this:

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence."
