Snow Days A Coming!

Butterscotch is missing again.  This cat is going to be a nightmare.  I have no idea where he is again. He was placed in the room in the basement, to give him more space, and get him out of the tiny bathroom, and the tiny 'playpen' that he has lived in since I've had him November 14th (Janine Wagner Day - :)).  There is a space under the door that is about three inches - I can't imagine he could have squeezed his 8 month furry little body under that, could he have?  I am numb right now.  I am just so sick of being upset over this little guy.  I will not panic, I just need to let him be.  If he is hungry, he will show up somewhere.  Or he just may be a cat that will live in hiding for the duration of his life.  Again, I am upset - as you can see.  :(  UPDATE:  He's been found - he actually crawled under the door that has a gap of about 2.5 - 3 inches.  HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE???

I went out this morning battening hatches on my shelters, all what - 15 or 16 now?  Good Gravy.  I am insane.  I put a board here, a board there, weighed it down with rocks and cement blocks.  We are anticipating a snowstorm coming from the South, with up to 10 inches of snow.  Joy.  So, tomorrow and Thursday morning doesn't look or sound too good.  Get the shovel out.  Dig dig dig.  Those poor babies with their six inch legs...

Lacey was delivered to her new home yesterday, and I don't think her new brother Lurch was too happy about it.  Lurch is a rather aggressive boy, sweet, but he is the man of the house and I am sure he is going to make that apparent to his new sister at some point.  Fingers crossed this works out.  Lacey is so sweet and dainty.  She is spending a few days in her own bedroom, and will be slowly introduced to Lurch.  uggh.

Jelly, name is being kept (hurray), is at her new home, slowly adjusting.  Apparently there was a hiss or growl toward her parents, and I am not 100% sure why that happened, will hopefully find that out today, but I am sure, in time, this will change, and Jelly is going to make the best kitty.  She is hiding most of the time from what I understand, but again, this will change.  Fingers crossed everyone!

Someone asked about Wally and Miss B.  Let me give you an update.

Larry the Cat

Wally

I have not seen Wally in close to a year now.  I had to 'unfriend' him after he had left the cat Larry that he adopted from me, alone for several days in his apartment.   That was kind of the icing on the cake for me since several other things have happened over the years that I was not happy about.  I went over and got the cat - I had a key to his apartment - and my niece adopted him.  I still feel bad that I did that, not the part about taking the cat - the part about ending our friendship.  It was pretty one -sided anyways.  I helped him out with all sorts of things. Donations from friends, gifts for special occasions and holidays from me, home cooked meals, cleaned for him occasionally, brought over a pot filled with herbs for the summer for his porch, etc. Just about everything given to him disappeared so it was a very frustrating situation.  In the end, after I could not get in touch with him, and finally did, and he told me he hadn't been home, and didn't know when he would, and wouldn't explain himself to me,  went over and got the cat and never talked to him again.

The Cats I Fed Under the Tree on Grand
Precious, Miss B's Dog after a grooming

Miss B
Miss B.  I had met her and helped her out with a few cat issues prior to her going to the womens shelter where she lived for about four months - I had been feeding there on Grand Avenue (which was also where Wally lived at the time) many cats under a tree, and she happeend to be out there one morning, we struck up a conversation and within a short time, she lost her place and became homeless.  I visited her many times in the women's shelter, bringing her gifts, giving her rides here and there, bringing donated clothing to the women there.  When she finally moved into an apartment, I visited with her many times, wound up giving her a feral kitten to care for, and she let the cat get out.  It was careless on her part - I can see if it couldn't be helped.  She would leave her door open constantly in the summer.  I was pretty upset about this.  She then got a dog, Precious, who I helped with the vet bill once a year when he needs his shots, and once a year a grooming appointment.  We still keep in touch but not as often as we used to.  I always felt the need to take care of these people.  I just can't keep that up.  She is somewhat of a hoarder, has too much stuff in her house - to which I am always telling her she needs to get rid of, and she gets mad at me.  She is a good person, but we have a distant relationship, and thats ok!

Thats the scoop, have a great day!

“Each smallest act of kindness, reverberates across great distances and spans of time --affecting lives unknown to the one who’s generous spirit, was the source of this good echo. Because kindness is passed on and grows each time it’s passed until a simple courtesy becomes an act of selfless courage, years later, and far away. Likewise, each small meanness, each expression of hatred, each act of evil.”

  2. Thanks for the Wally and Miss B updates. You did all you could for them, but you can't help people who don't want to help themselves. I'm just glad that Larry's doing OK and is in a good home getting all the attention he deserves!

  3. You have one of the biggest and most compassionate hearts! Just knowing you has changed my life for the better; and that's not counting the gifts of Abby (what a diva) or Greta. Another food delivery is not far off. -carol
