Saturday (and Monday!)

SATURDAY

Butterscotch has been found!  I can't tell you what a weight it was off my mind.  I got home from work on Friday, and with flashlight in hand, looked in every dark nook and cranny in the entire house.  Nothing.  Little did I think he would be wedged between plastic totes I store stuff in down in the basement.   And I mean wedged.  I looked under them, I looked over them, but nothing.  I was so down, until I finally spotted something moving, and voila!  There he was.  Feels a bit lighter too, so off he went back to the tiny bathroom he will be continuing to live in until I can figure out what to do with him.  He is a snuggly brat.  Eight months old, soft long red fur.  Anybody want him?

I crossed Pennsylvania this morning to feed Mr. Fluffypants (who was not there this morning, by the way), and a black man crossed the street after yelling over 'I saw  you on the news the other day'.  I turned around and smiled, knowing it was Joe, a man who was once homeless, and I had given a ride or two before, as I knew him from Wally, my old friend Wally.  He went on to say what a good person I was to do what I do.  He mentioned something like even though cats are not human, they need someone to care for them, and he said how not only do I care for the animals, but people too, like him.  I smiled, tears welling up in my eyes, and said yes, I remember, Miss B., Wally, the man on the porch down the street that I left a meal for with a blanket, and the young kid I gave my Scooby Doo blanket to...  I told Joe how little recognition I get for doing what I do every single day of my life, how my bones ached, but these cats in these neighborhoods depend on me because they are hungry, so I cannot miss a day.  Uggh.  I needed that.  Thanks Joe, for making my morning.

But most of all, thanks to those of you who write me, leave me comments, make me feel good about what I do.  Thank you so much for helping me help the kitties.

Have a great day!

Monday

A girl named LaCarla asked me for a ride this morning, after seeing me feeding the cats on 7th.  She told me her boyfriend had beaten her up again, and she didn't want to get a ride from anyone else because "they would make me do stuff and I don't want to do that."  I drove her to another place after telling her she was a young and vital woman and needed to get a legitimate job.  She could then be independent from any man.  Pretty sad stuff out there.  So many situations we know nothing about in this world.  Its heartbreaking, not only for the animals, but for human relationships also.  Its a never ending cycle when people depend on the government to live their lives.  Generation after generation.  I wish I could help them all.

Mr. Fluffypants sat on my lap this morning before I drove to the final spot to feed the eight cats just up the street there.  I sat him there, and rubbed his head and neck and allowed him to enjoy a minute of warmth.  He is a good boy and needs a home.

Jelly went to her new home on Saturday morning.  She is still scared, but happy to be in a warm and loving home. She is a loud purr ball!

Lacey, the white kitty, is going to her new home this evening!  I am so thankful to these people who stepped up for these two angels.  Thank you!

Please, spread the word.  Lets get these babies off the streets.  Thank you so much!

Have a beautiful day!

  1. Thank goodness Butterscotch was found, the little Houdini! By the way, I'm glad you mentioned Miss B. and Wally. What's the latest on both of them? I've been wondering for a long time.
